Melaleuca alternifolia
The Tea Tree. We were lucky enough to come by a 'super clone' of this plant. Which basically means it's from specially selected seed which have been bred to produce a high yield of the oil that this lovely plant is so well known for. And what this means for us is that it smells fabulous. If, that is, you like the smell of medicinal herbs..... Of course, it's also very pretty when in flower. A typical Myrtle but sadly not hardy on the UK mainland. Evergreen with fluffy white flowers in the summer. For our continental customers, it's a fast grower and would make a lovely large shrub or small tree (in warmer climbs) depending on your pruning. Very soft, mid-green foliage and a graceful, upright habit.
