Kunzea are a member of the Myrtaceae family found mainly in southwest Western Australia. K. ambigua however, is found from northeastern New South Wales through Victoria and into Tasmania, making it a rather more hardy variety and the only one that I currently grow.

It was one of the first species of Australian plant introduced into cultivation in England and has proved to be an adaptable shrub though not widely grown. The flowers are sweetly fragant, reminiscent of honey, and are a great attraction to the local wildlife.
