Without exception Callistemon are evergreen. Endemic to Australia they have adapted to grow in most conditions and those listed here are both hardy and tender. Please check minimum temperatures to see if the variety is suitable for your area before purchasing.  Where they may occasionally suffer some damage in extreme conditions it is recommended that burnt foliage and branches are pruned hard back, and patience is observed whilst the plant recovers. And they usually do. Water is a key issue with Bottlebrushes as many people believe them to be drought tolerant, and they’re not. Water well when planting and make sure they have plenty of water in their first year as they establish a healthy root system. Always dead head after flowering to retain a good shape.
